Meditation
Direct Meditation This meditation is for 1 hour. The meditation is very directed. Not dealing with one's own tamasic states is a major detriment. Higher levels are never reached, but one remains in a cloud. Tamas is lethargy, laziness, cloudiness, basically forms of sleepiness, vagueness, etc. The rajasic state needs to be reached as a passageway to sattvic states. The sattvic state is the condition that allows the no-mind state, or, freedom from thought, or manas. In this limited time we attempt to pass out of the tamasic state to freedom from thought. Every effort is made to dispense with thought of any variety. This effort is direct. It is full of intent. The energy of the intent is what sparks the rajas. The intent is rajas. Every effort is then made to reach platform of sattva, within the limitation of the one hour. Primarily this meditation is to force the rajas to stimulate enough intensity for sattvic clarity to predominate. Note that any rajas will not lead to sattva, only attempting sadhana with the energy of rajas will have that result. |
Meditation 1 (This meditation description is recorded verbatim without any editing.) Eyes front, open, white blanket*, wall advance – forward retreat – backward, down radiate out, beyond full brain, skull core of brain downwards path, sushumna. Sleep cycles, schedule after sleep. Initial efforts to expel superficial thoughts and clear some mental space. Kumbhak will help. See Nityananda and Shiva Balayogi early images. Alternate expansion, repeated re-focusing of eyes, eyes straight ahead and wide open, with eyes full of energy and fullness, will vary in effect from eyes lowered slightly. At first, if eyes are lowered, thoughts will increase. When thoughts increase, return to previous “position” (mental asan) or, shfit to another mental asana, one that is in a proximate stage/entry level. Continue clearing mind. Ascendant or rising energy is at the preliminary stages only. As space is cleared, the descent commences. This is were the small self or mundane mind begins to decompress or “surrender” – the will is going to resist “surrender” so repeated efforts to coax the mind to “give in” and “drop down” will be required. (Descent here has nothing to do with negative descent to lower personality chakras, lower self, lower body/mind impulses, etc.) Ear plugs can be worn to constrain the senses. Self-evaluation – are thoughts increasing, or decreasing? Is there a(ny) sense of inner silence? Is there any a(ny) sense of detachment? Aside – any (at all) sense of achievement (as in, “I’m getting it) is always an insertion by ego, as ego wants to claim victory or ownership – the Self cannot say or do this (or anything.) Soon you will see ego rising, before, you were always within the rising ego. * Spread a white blanket out before you, let your eyes fall on this white expanse, to avoid distraction by patterns, clutter, etc. |
Vasanas When emotional barriers arise do not quit meditation; tolerate the pain and think in terms of burning or exhausting the vasanas. One vasana will hook up to another, until an entire train, or lifetime, of interconnected vasanas, painful memories, or unresolved struggles will be dragged in the first vasana’s train. This can seem overwhelming and include emotional or physical pain, frustration, reaction to current situations, etc. The point is to bear this, as this is a golden opportunity to resolve the vasanas and advance in present time liberation. |
Think without words Take whatever problem or issue you are facing. Give yourself the subtle command to think without words. Depending on your ability, the mind will immediately move outside the realm of the inner dialogue of words and enter a shakti-like understanding of concepts, or a massive feeling-sensation of comprehension. |
